For more than 15 years, Mays Business School’s Titans of Investing class has prepared the next generation of financial leaders. Founded and taught by Britt Harris ’80, president, CEO and CIO of The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company, the class goes beyond financial knowledge to help students develop wisdom, servant leadership and lifelong friendships.
“Titans was created to cultivate qualities that complement academia,” Harris said. “We nurture students’ natural giftedness and character and give them a blueprint for how to think and operate.”
Students gain wisdom through books recommended by business leaders and write 10-page summaries called Titans Briefs that receive personal feedback from these leaders. Through retreats and dinners with Harris, Titans also build ties that continue through an alumni network of more than 700 Titans graduates. Highly recruited by employers, most attain positions with prestigious financial institutions.
“Titans is a close-knit family,” said Mary Matl ’21, CEO of the spring 2021 Titans class. “Developing friendships with people of high character who want to grow as much as I do is invaluable.”
